Summary
Tenth-minute file from a 2013 session (index: Kloyzenburg, 17 May 2013; no name given). A man recounts his deportation in 1944 and his path through Auschwitz, Buchenwald and a work commando at Magdeburg, and his father's fate. The talk then turns to Kerler asking permission to show the footage, the informant's contacts abroad and a Yiddish joke he recalls, and ends with Kerler asking about his return after liberation.
Stretches
00:00–03:59
The informant recounts his deportation in 1944 (end of May, as heard) and eight to ten days with his father in Auschwitz, then Buchenwald and a work commando in Magdeburg until Rosh Hashanah 1944. After a selection his father, who had grown very weak, was sent to Buchenwald with a transport. He describes a later visit to the Buchenwald museum, where he photographed camp documents and found a list with his father's name and a transport date (28 September).
Kerler asks the informant whether he agrees to have his account shown to others, and the informant and S2 leave it to him. The informant then mentions his contacts with friends in Israel, America and Germany.
Kerler and the informant exchange email addresses and talk about reading Yiddish, which the informant finds hard. The informant says he has heard many Yiddish jokes and tells one about a school geography lesson on Norway. Kerler closes the stretch by asking whether he returned to Radia (?) after liberation and found nothing there to do.
