Rights and use

The recordings are in copyright. They are published online by the AHEYM project for listening, study and teaching; any other use — copying, re-publication, broadcast, inclusion in another work — needs the project's permission.

The archival copies on Media Collections Online are held by Indiana University's Archives of Traditional Music under the terms of their deposit: use is permitted for individual and non-profit educational and research purposes; copies may not be made or distributed; obtaining copies or making published reference to the content is subject to the approval of the depositors (Dov-Ber Kerler and Jeffrey Veidlinger) and the Archives. The copies on the project's YouTube channel and on archive.org are published by the project under the same understanding and carry the same rights statement ("In Copyright").

The people in the recordings spoke to the project's interviewers on the understanding that their memories would be preserved and studied. Please treat what they say, and their names, with the care that implies: quote accurately, give the tape and the time, and do not re-cut or re-publish a passage out of its context without asking.
