Summary

Camera file (10:40) from the Debretsin session of 2013-05-27, one of eight consecutive files. Kerler and an elderly informant go over Purim-related liturgical and traditional texts, with Kerler repeating phrases back, apparently to record or check the wording. At the end Kerler remarks that they have captured nearly everything that came to mind. The transcript is very garbled, so the content is only partly clear.

Stretches

00:00–04:34

The informant recites or says short passages of a Purim-related liturgical or traditional text, in a broken transcript. Kerler repeats phrases back, asks where they continue, and picks out phrases such as one about Genesis (?) and one about holy days. At about 03:30 he asks what a phrase means (it appears to be 'at the gates of his house'), and the informant says it.

04:34–10:40

The informant continues with text connected to Purim and the new month. Kerler says that they have other versions (nusach) and asks whether it is said in Yiddish. They discuss a line about Jews being rich or happy on Purim (?). Kerler concludes in English and Yiddish that the text varies, and says that they have caught nearly everything that came to mind.
