Summary

Short camera-track file (under three minutes) from a session with Rivke Basman in Herzliya, 12 June 2018, the middle one of three consecutive files. Basman talks with Lemster about a poet whose name is garbled in the transcript, whose book she printed, and about reading her poems aloud. She reads a poem about a letter to dead friends and then speaks of poets' biographies, with a mention of Yesenin.

Stretches

00:00–02:49

Basman asks whether Lemster knows a poet (name garbled in the transcript) with whom she had contact and whose book she printed. She says he had no one to help him in Yiddish and wrote a moving poem about his friends who are no longer alive. She then reads a poem in the form of a letter to dead friends, which she says closes a book, and mentions an autobiographical poem in another book. She recalls an evening at which she was asked some questions and answered by offering to read. Lemster and Basman remark that a poet's biography is his life and work, and Lemster cites Yesenin on this.
