Summary
Short camera-track file from the session with Emanuel "Mundek" Elbinger in Krakow, 24 May 2016. It opens mid-story with Elbinger telling of a Jewish woman hidden during the war, a camp, a mass grave and a family hiding in a garden. From about 01:28 the talk turns to practical matters: the room's availability, Polish side talk and where the team will go (Klezmer House on Szeroka).
Stretches
00:00–01:28
Elbinger tells, mid-narrative, of a woman who was hidden and of a priest's sister. A woman is named as Leah (?), and a place called Kabzhisk (?) is mentioned. She wanted to go out and help but was told not to, because she had other children. A camp and a burial place are mentioned, where fifty-six (?) Jews lie buried. His sister and others hid in a garden, staying shut in by day and going out at night to breathe. He does not know the Yiddish word for a place name he gives (rendered Plebania (?)).
Practical talk, partly in Polish, about room schedules, lessons and a choir. Kerler and Elbinger discuss the lack of space and say the team will meet at the Klezmer House on Szeroka. They also discuss how to get there and whether to drive.
